Sinking Gondola Fix
|
| |
in what is probably the simplest mod ever created, here's a fix for those gondolas in vivec which slowly start tilting out of the water as the game goes on. some ppl on the hardware/software issues forum were askin for a fix, so here it is:

Is there a fix that makes them tilt out of the water faster too? Because I want that. Other than that, great work.

Behold the lilies of the field, they toil not, nor do they spin!
Other than that, the more spinning things, the better. Hmm... excuse me, gotta make a new script for all doors, activators, weapons, clothes, npc's...

I wonder what'd happen if the script was changed to summon a Winged Twilight every 200 seconds when the player was within 1000 spaces...

This is a relief...I thought I was sinking them due to my poor marksman skills.

If you want to reset the gondolas, just open the console, click on the one you want and type in 'setatstart'. I've been waiting for this fix, and have gotten used to resetting every gondola I see.
Great work, btw!

I knew that. Hmm... I'll have to try opening the console, and typing onto objects, Rotate Y 20, Z 30, etc.
For floating them, try move z 10.

Not as a constant! They'd shoot up into the sky like rockets, leaving their owners to flounder in the sea!

You know... I just now noticed them sinking like a duck with it's ass in the air. What the heck causes that and why is it a normal thing in the game? Is this a major overlook of the devs or something?

Thanks scruggs. That was a nuisance. What was causing it?

On a similar note, I have a little problem with the flag for the Balmora Temple. The post is where it should be, next to the Temple entrance, but the flag itself flutters about halfway between the Temple and the stairs leading to it. Do you know if there's any fix for this, or if it can be fixed through the CS? I've also seen the banners in Vivec rotate through the vertical axis in previous games. Again, any fix for that?
Thanks

I get the same problem with the outdoor lanterns/lights.
They tend to tilt after a while...

I think its a script in Tribunal, which is why I'm reluctant to use this, because this might mess up whatever it was associated with.

They just don't reset the objects back to their editor positions periodically. So the rotations add random values at the end, dependant on the framerate (because script-time is dependant on framerates, but rotation-time is independant of framerates). These errors accumulate.

yes, brokenminded has it. that's why the tilt gets progressively worse as the game goes on.
i've only ever noticed the problem with gondolas, but if anyone needs a fix for lights/flags/etc, a very easy way is to add these three lines to the script which causes the movement:
if ( cellChanged == 1 )
...setAtStart
endif

It's so nice to see them floating correctly again. This one goes right up there with the ring texture fix mod definitely a keeper.

That's a brilliant solution. I was thinking a reset based on timers, but that solution won't overload the processor.
